Soft colors. The cottage palette is usually light and airy, and kitchens follow suit. It’s hard to go wrong with crisp, classic white, but soft yellow, pale turquoise or light khaki all look fresh and appropriate as well. Or try a mix of cabinetry colors: one shade on the island with a contrasting hue on the cabinets.
Want to add a little bit of rustic charm to your kitchen? A fence board backsplash is just what the room needs to look warm and inviting. The idea is simple and transparent. Repurpose fence boards and use them to cover the space between your kitchen counters and the upper cabinets. This technique is perfect if your cabinets are hanging are slightly different heights because you can easily adjust the boards and cut them to size.
