Simple lighting. Craftsman-style lighting is first and foremost about function, but its strong geometric lines also add visual flair. Mica is the classic material for pendants, chandeliers and sconces; Tiffany lamps suit the look as well.
Custom design to the space. In this kitchen-dining area the owners have managed to fit in quite a roomy island. The L-shaped footprint of the cabinets to the left could have presented a problem, as there might not have been enough room to pass between the “wall” and the island. To overcome this, the designers cut a corner off the island’s tabletop to provide easier access.
Inset cabinet doors. Most cabinets built in place in kitchens in the early 1900s have inset doors. Small hinges are mounted right on the face frame (the visible frame around the cabinet opening) or just inside it; the hinges are often visible when the door is shut.
Whether you’re remodeling your entire or kitchen or just looking to refresh the space, we’ve narrowed down a few different kitchen backsplash ideas.
