Cabinet construction style. This basically relates to the method of construction and the type of frame created for the body of your cabinets. Basic construction styles include face frame cabinetry (with 1½-to-2-inch-wide stile and rails, also called border frames) and Euro style (with no frame around the edge of the cabinet box). There are variations on these styles, such as basic overlay, mini-frame (which achieves a look similar to Euro style) and inset door construction.
Simple architectural details. You may see legs on islands, feet or furniture-style toekicks, crown molding and even a paneled hood, but these details are often restrained in a classic kitchen rather than being over the top and ornate.
The bold shade is a custom paint color. The double cabinet of pantry storage has a glass-fronted cabinet with glass shelves on one side. “It’s painted inside and lit,” Graver says. “The owners wanted somewhere to store glasses and to have some display space too.”
Ever considered simply painting your backsplash without actually using anything else? You can pretty much create any pattern and design you want. In this case, a herringbone pattern was chosen. To make something similar, you need a lot of tape. Decide on a size for your painted tiles. Then make tiny pencil marks on the wall to know where the grout lines should go. After that, make the horizontal lines and start taping and painting. It’s tricky and you need lots of spare time for a project like this but it’s also really original.
