Fiery orange. A shock of orange runs along the lower cabinetry in this open-plan kitchen, bringing the heat to the work zone without intruding on the rest of the calmer finishes in the adjacent spaces. The paint job was customized by applying many layers and then finishing it with hand polishing.
The vivid cabinetry adds a theatrical touch to the kitchen of a 1960s bungalow in the English county of Wiltshire. Graver and his team extensively modernized the property, moving the kitchen to the heart of the home before they began designing it.
Splash of Yellow. This appealing, light-filled kitchen sports a band of color at the backsplash and via the dining chairs. This is a great option for someone who wants a very light, soothing and restrained palette but with a little twist.
Chalked-up concrete. Take sidewalk chalk to the kitchen with a writable cement backsplash, and have fun creating a rotating display of sketches, doodles and lists. A concrete floor can be treated the same way, depending on the finish used — so you can let the kiddos draw on the floor!
