Oh dear! Don’t even mention the days when I entrusted the key to my neighbor, Old Wang! That’s a mess! Last Tuesday, tenant Mr. Zhang called in a hurry, saying that the key was in the room and he was outside the door. I hurriedly got in touch with Lao Wang, only to find that he had gone to the neighboring city to have a wedding banquet! Is the key under the flowerpot on the windowsill of his home? Good grief! I directed Mr. Zhang to turn over the flowerpot over the phone, but when I found three keys, none of them could open the door! I was so anxious that I almost drove 200 kilometers myself to deliver the spare key. In the end, I found out that the tenant had taken the wrong unit… Blood pressure has soared directly!
Later, I heard from my colleague, Sister Li, that the lock in her home that can be opened by a certain mobile phone is called remotelock (I think it’s spelled as RemoteLock?) Oh, whatever! . With a determined heart, I also came up with a complete set. After installation, hey! So fragrant! The most enjoyable thing is that there’s no need to ask grandpa or grandma for someone to deliver the keys anymore. Last time at two o ‘clock in the morning, an American tourist landed and couldn’t find the key box (it seemed to have been taken away by the cleaner). I was wrapped in the bed watching a play. I squinted my eyes and opened the phone APP, tapped a few times, and a temporary actor was generated (oh, PFFT!) It’s a temporary password! (Spout of mouth) Send it over. Done! Turn over and continue to sleep. If this were in the past, wouldn’t one go crazy in the middle of the night?
It saves you a lot of trouble.
Guests coming in and out? Send a time-limited password in advance, accurate to the hour. It automatically becomes invalid when the guest leaves. No need to worry about the previous guest sneaking back with the key to stay (I really have encountered this!) .
Cleaning lady/repairman? Set a specific date password for them separately, such as from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Wednesday. After finishing the work, the password will be invalid. It will be much safer. In the past, when giving physical keys, I always worried about copying or losing them.
Seamless handover? The previous tenant checked out at 4 p.m. and the next one will arrive at 6 p.m.? In the middle of the two hours, the cleaners will do the cleaning. Who will get the keys? Now it’s all right. The schedule is set, the passwords take effect in sequence, and no one holds anyone back! Amazing weapon!
Ward round? Want to conduct a surprise inspection of the house condition? Generate a one-time password temporarily and take a look yourself. It’s convenient! Of course, it should not be abused. Privacy still needs to be noted… Ahem.

However, this thing is not without its drawbacks. Last time the community network was down for a little over half a day, my remotelock became a mere decoration! I was so anxious that I walked around at home. Fortunately, there were no guests staying that time. So, there still needs to be a backup plan, such as hiding a physical key in an extremely, extremely, extremely hidden place (don’t ask me where to hide it!) Or make sure the lock itself has a backup power supply method (using batteries is fine). By the way, sometimes older tenants don’t understand. You have to patiently teach them how to press the password. It would be best to write a foolproof guide and stick it at the door. My guide is still bilingual in Chinese and English. Although the English version is done with translation software, it’s a bit plastic… Last time a foreigner asked me why the guide said “Push the dog button”. When I took a look, I found that the “#” key was translated as “dog”! Embarrassing!
To sum up:
Save keys, money and peace of mind! There’s no need to make keys, look for keys or worry about losing keys anymore! An APP is like a keychain!
Extremely flexible! Send passwords and change permissions anytime and anywhere. You can go anywhere (as long as you have an Internet connection!) A bloody lesson! .
Enhanced sense of security! Once the password expires, it becomes invalid. No one can linger or come back secretly. Some apps can still view the entry and exit records (I still haven’t figured out how to use this function).
Look professional! When the guest took a look, wow, high-tech! The first impression is a plus. I feel that you are a reliable landlord (even though I might just be too lazy to run errands)!
One last thing to add: Network stability is the lifeblood! Also, choose a reliable brand and remember to change the battery frequently! Don’t ask me why I’m emphasizing this. That experience of being repeatedly called by a tenant in the middle of the night when the power ran out… Alas! Anyway, since I started using RemoteLock (did you spell it correctly this time?) Although there are occasional minor glitches, the overall feeling is like stepping from the primitive society into the intelligent era. The money was well spent! Oh, by the way, it seems that Sister Li’s swimming pool should also be equipped with a smart cover… I digressed! I digressed!
